Overview

ATO System

General

ATO System, the equipment which operates trains automatically, has the functions that perform the automatic train operation (automatic acceleration and deceleration) in the section between stations and the precise stop and the door operation at the platforms in stations. This system is composed of the main computer and ATO console in central control room, TWC (train to wayside communication) which communicates bidirectional between the ground equipment and the on-board equipment to exchange information, matching transformer and beacon, and can perform the functions of automatic departure, running with permitted speed, precise stop and automatic turn-back without driver's intervention.

  • ATO (Automatic Train Operation)
  • TWC (Train Communication System)

TWC BLOCK

▪ The antenna located at the front head of train receives TWC signal that is transmitted from TWC loop coil installed on the ground. The received signal is analyzed to get the information for train operation and sent to on-board ATC, ATO and TCMS (Train Control and Monitor System) equipments to use for train operation.

▪ The antenna located at the rear head of train receives AM signal to check the precise stop location.

ATO BLOCK

▪ ATO Block demodulates the FS wave signal which is sent from BPF board.

▪ The demodulated signal is sent to a standard modem to pass the verification process such as error checking and then outputs the information for train numbers, destinations, stop status, etc. Based on the output information and the detected zero speed condition, the door relay is operated. ATO Block transmits the information of current status to the main computer.
